Dads, heroic

There’s a couple of sad stories in the news today about dads reacting quickly to life-threatening situations involving their children. In both cases it illustrates heroic actions on the part of a father trying to protect his kids.

The word “heroic” is thrown around pretty easily, but in these cases I’d say it fits.

Hats off to these dads.

In New York, a father shielded his toddler son from a man who went on a wild stabbing spree. As the man attacked, the father, James Fayette, got in front of the boy. Five people were wounded, but none of the wounds are considered life-threatening. The suspect was tackled and held down by a passer-by until police arrived.

And in Colorado, a father shielded his daughter from a rock slide that took his life, and also killed other members of his family. The girl told rescuers that her father covered her with his own body as the boulders fell, saving her.
